"GREEN......MY A$%"

As you can tell by the headline of this article, something has really gotten under our skin and it is the act of "green washing". If you have been following the whole "green movement" you may have heard people throwing around the phrase green washing. No, it is not a new high tech way to clean produce of dangerous bacteria. It is a term that refers to companies that are jumping on the green bandwagon, making false claims in an attempt to earn more profits from the green movement.

Let me put it to you simply, for every one company that is truly "green" there are 5 companies that are inaccurately claiming to be. Rest assured we will do our best to help you differentiate between genuine green companies and those who are using the word "green" to make an extra buck.

Here's the first clue; if the company has been notorious for abusing the environment and ignoring human rights violations, it is unlikely that they have all of a sudden "seen the light". Look beyond the packaging and the "green" slogans in their advertising. As our mothers always told us "the proof is in the pudding!"

If you have legitimate news of a company you feel is green washing, please let us know as we will help spread the word if it is accurate and necessary.
