Share a Ride, and the Expense!

Want to go to a concert, but you need a ride? Or how about ikea, but it is so far...

Now, there's an online meeting place where you can find people that are either offering a ride or people who may want to share their driving expenses with someone.

GoLoco is a service that helps people quickly arrange to share rides between friends, neighbors, and colleagues. GoLoco also helps you share trip costs online.

Most of the time people share very common routes. With Goloco you can post your most common routes and times and find people that are using similar routes. It's also a great way to meet people with common interests.

If you think you could benefit from ride sharing, check out the website, create a profile and give it a try. We are not affiliated with Goloco at all. I simply figured I would share a cool site with those who may be interested.

Ride sharing is a great way to save money, cut back on carbon emission and create a social network.

And when you do need a car, car sharing is the answer! It is such an energy saving alternative to car ownership! Car sharing companies are popping up everywhere. One such company is Zipcar. I LOVE Zipcar, which currenlty operates in Boston, New York, San Francisco, Washington DC and Chicago. Others include Flexcar, City Carshare, IGo and plenty of other smaller, local companies. It's brilliant! In the case of Zipcar, you register online for a small fee, you receive your "Zip" card in the mail and when you are ready to book a car, you hop online to reserve a car and you are all set! It cost between $8-$10 per hour and there is no hassle of dealing with a rental agent or filling up the gas tank! Head over to your car (most are parked in rented parking spots in parking garages or lots) put the zipcard up to the window which unlocks the door, hop in and go! For more details go to www.zipcar.com.  You can rent anything from a Volvo to a Mini Cooper to a Toyota Prius.
